Shopping at The Red Hen is an experience to be remembered. You will be amazed at our selection of previously owned clothing, toys, gear etc. at fantastic prices. The little ones will find plenty to amuse them in our indoor play area - that is if you can get them past the playground in our backyard! Be sure to check out the fort with slide, sand box, picnic table and lounge chairs for big people.

We carry children's clothing sizes from preemie through 6X. We are adding to our inventory everyday and are pleased to see the selection growing in all sizes (especially the larger sizes). We screen all items meticulously and if it is on the floor you can be sure it is stain and blemish free. In addition, we check all gear, equipment, and furniture for recalls at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (www.cpsc.gov) website. If you don't see what you are looking for, let us know. We will insert your request into our "WISH LIST" program and you will be the first to know when it arrives in the store!

We also stock a tremendous selection of clothing for nursing and expecting moms. You can quickly scan the racks for a large red circle around the hanger to find clothing with nursing features. We also offer several new nursing items (see our Popular Showcase). For expecting moms, we have a large dressing room with a try-on belly. Our previously owned maternity clothing is in "like new" condition and you can be sure to find the right size for the right season at the right price! Whether you are looking for business, dressy-casual, or lounge wear, you will find it here!

Additional features at The Red Hen included a fully-stocked diaper changing station, a complimentary drink station for big people, and we will be adding healthy snacks for purchase very soon. The work of local artists (including our featured photographer) graces our walls and provides examples of ways -- oil, photo, watercolor, graphite, etc. -- to capture this special time in your life or your child's life. The list of services we offer includes a "Buy Back" program for short term use of gear or equipment, complimentary gift wrapping, and our own version of a "Baby Registry". We also have a frequent buyer card: ten punches for purchases in $20 increments will earn you a $20 discount on your next purchase! For clothing only, we offer return or exchange within 7 days of purchase. Of course, tags must be attached and the receipt presented.

We know that there is sometimes a short-term need for baby equipment and/or gear. Maybe friends or family are coming to visit and are not able to pack a high chair, a stroller, a baby bed, etc. We want to help fill that need. Although we are not able to offer equipment rental (insurance technicalities), we will buy items in those categories - in the same condition - back from you within 3 weeks (21 days) for 50% of the original selling price. This is a higher percentage than we are able to pay for most items but see it as a beneficial service to the community. For most items, this program is even more cost-effective than a rental program. To take advantage of this offer, a signed agreement must be in place before the initial purchase. Let us help you make visits easier on you and your guests!

We are thrilled to partner with Etch-n-Stitch in Hillsborough to offer personalizing embroidery. Have a name or monogram embroidered for only $10! We have wanted to offer this service since we opened and the beautiful pieces from Che inspired us to make it happen. How it works: you buy the perfect item at The Red Hen, fill out the order form from Etch-n-Stitch; we send it to them; they send it back; and it is ready for you to pick up at The Red Hen in a week or less. Fabulous, right?

At our customers' requests, we have developed a unique system for Baby Registries here at The Red Hen. If you are expecting, you will be given a form to fill out that will help people shopping for you know what they should select. For the new products that we carry in the store, the process would be similar to registries at mainstream stores. You select the item in the size, color, style, and quantity you would like. Because our selection of previously-owned items is in constant flux, you would be able to give general guidelines to direct your friends and family. You might ask for a particular Brand of clothing, or a particular size, color, or style, or maybe for items that are only "New with Tags." You will be able to make specific or general requests according to your needs. Maybe you would even select a few things just for you (like the Perineal Tub Tea for post-partum soaking from MoonDance Soaps & More).
